Our Focus
Improving the health of mothers and young children is one of the country’s most urgent priorities and a core focus of this foundation. According to the situation analysis of maternal and newborn health in Uganda provided by the Ministry of Health, around 200,000 children under the age of five years die each year. Of these, more than half die during their first year, and 45,000 within the first month of life- the newborn period. Uganda also experiences 8,000 maternal deaths each year. These deaths can be prevented and this is what DMF is doing about it.
