What is a MamaPort: A TUKTUK or 3 wheeled vehicle that will be offering mothers and their newborns free and comfortable transport services from public hospitals within Kampala and later rural areas to the nearest bus station or to their homes. The MamaPort will be available through a hotline number from 5:00am to 11:00pm daily.
This hotline will be availed to all public hospital front desks or inquiry office who will be contacting us incase of any deserving discharge where a mother and newborn have had life threatening complications and need safe and comfortable transportation back home.
Before we launch the MamaPort to serve mothers and their newborns in Uganda. We want the public to know and fully understand how this project will help new mothers and their newborns through periodic interviews on radio and TV and using all our social media platforms to throw more light on this project.
Launching and Fundraising for the 1st MamaPort:
On 17th December 2016 at Kabira Country Club, all the mobilized celebrities and fans will join us to launch and fundraise for the 1st MamaPort and we will use the presence of the various media houses to voice out our new initiative in maternal and child survival.
Purchasing and Having Corporate Companies Donate a MamaPort:
From the money raised, we hope to purchase the foundation’s 1st MamaPort. We will then reach out to corporate companies and individuals to buy and donate a MamaPort in order to have enough MamaPorts reaching out to as many hospitals as possible in Uganda.
In 5years, we not only want to make sure that our vision of delivering safe and comfortable free rides for mothers and newborns is evident, but also want to sensitize the general public of the importance of the first 24hrs of a mother and child’s life.
We hope you will be able to join us and support this great project!
