Dorah Mwima Foundation was founded in 2009 by Dorah Mwima - Miss Uganda 2008/2009.
The Foundation main objectives are to:
1. Be a unique foundation focused on prenatal and postnatal health care for premature babies and toddlers
2. Understand the basic health needs of babies, postnatal and
prenatal mothers
3. Provide for and educate the public about those basic health needs
4. Identify and network with organisations which have similar interests; liaise with international support organisations
5. Support and supply health facilities to the underprivileged
We are #UpForSchool because an educated population equates to a healthy population. Research shows literate people have better health seeking behavior than illiterate people because they possess more knowledge on diagnosis, disease process, as well as signs and symptoms . Furthermore, educated persons are more likely to be employed over the non-educated and earn more, they will therefore be in a better position to access quality health care. We are BIG advocates for access to health care with the motto "a passion for care" but we also recognise that education goes hand in hand with health. We are therefore, taking a firm #STAND for Education reforms in Uganda. RISE with us by adding your signature here. We are all #UpForSchool!
THE PETITION
"We, the world's youth, teachers, parents and global citizens appeal to our governments to keep their promise, made at the United Nations in 2000, to ensure all out-of-school children gain their right to education before the end of 2015.
We are standing up to bring an end to the barriers preventing girls and boys from going to school, including forced work and early marriage, conflict and attacks on schools, exploitation and discrimination. All children deserve the opportunity to learn and achieve their potential.
We are #UpForSchool."
